The challenge
“At HaleyTek we’re developing a common Android-ready infotainment platform for several OEMs within the Geely group. A big part of this task was to ramp up the right competence to help us achieve the top-notch quality expected from our products,” says Jorge Jara, Engineering Manager at HaleyTek.
To achieve this, they needed a reliable supplier with hands-on expertise related to Android development, including audio architecture, 3rd party solution integration, and Android quality assurance. HaleyTek wanted to have a self-organized team of experts, including a Scrum Master/Project Manager role, to work closely with their teams to deliver all requested features within a tight SOP deadline.
The solution
Android is a widely-known operating system used in billions of devices every day. Android Automotive is a version of the Android OS tailored for in-car infotainment systems. Since its introduction in 2017, the full-stack open-source OS has been gaining more and more interest from car manufacturers around the world.
The collaboration between HaleyTek and Tietoevry Create focuses on developing the platform software that enables a smooth in-car audio experience. This brings the power of Android to cars – introducing openness, customization, and scale to automotive infotainment systems and head units.

About the customer
HaleyTek is a joint venture between Volvo Cars and ecarx. We’re on a mission to develop software for Android-powered Infotainment systems, for current and future Volvo and Polestar models. We will also make this software available for other brands, mainly within the Geely group.
